Staff Accountant

 

Summary

Nimbis Services, Inc. is growing, and we are looking for a Staff Accountant in our Charles Town, WV office.  This hands-on Staff Accountant position will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records for this fast-growing organization and in ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.  This position will assist with the month end close, financial reporting, and perform day to day accounting functions.  The Staff Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that accurate and proper accounting procedures are followed in accordance with GAAP and FAR requirements and that all expenses are properly coded.  This position will also assist with other projects as assigned.  The ideal candidate will have the following skills: problem solving, analysis, adaptability, organized and team player.  We also want someone that will take responsibility and ownership of the accounting records. This is a fast-paced environment so we are looking for someone that can work under pressure and deadlines.

 

US Citizen Status is required for this position with potential clearance in the future.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and assist in preparation of the monthly financial statements.
  • Assist in maintaining detailed balance sheet account schedules.
  • Perform Accounts Payable functions, including processing bills to be paid, maintaining paid invoice files, responding to vendor inquiries and researching payables information as necessary.
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  • Process vendor payments; coordinate the signing of payable checks and the mailing out of the payments, as well as initiating ACH payments for approval.
  • Review expense reimbursements for adherence to the company travel policies; ensure appropriate receipts and transaction documentation are attached.
  • Initiate weekly ACH transactions to reimburse employees, including the initial employee ACH setup in the external banking software.
  • Gather and maintain proper documentation for corporate credit card transactions, and record transactions in the accounting system in a timely manner.
  • Electronically file all accounts payable invoices and invoices/receipts related to credit card and direct bank payments.
  • Record bank transactions daily and reconcile bank transactions each month to invoices ensuring that all expenses are properly substantiated. 
  • Generate purchase orders as needed.
  • Perform Accounts Receivable functions, including distributing and tracking all accounts receivables and sending out past due notices and collecting on old outstanding balances.
  • Process and account for deposits on a timely basis.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience.

  • 5 plus years of relevant accounting experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong customer service skills with excellent oral and written communication skills
