NCMS - Grid Portal
Objective
Providing Marketplace Portal for remote desktop modeling and simulation access.
Approach
Nimbis provided modeling and simulation tools through the Nimbis Services Technical Computing Marketplace (Nimbis marketplace) using NCMS GRID oriented products in support of NCMS Michigan pilots. The extent of these efforts included access to the Nimbis marketplace, compute cycles, independent software vendor (ISV) software, and contract services for consulting services companies.
Compute cycles were provided through the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC). ISV software was provided through an Abaqus evaluation license from SIMULIA. Consulting services on the use of Abaqus were provided by Caelynx to JECO Plastic Products. Caelynx (http://www.caelynx.com/) provides professional finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) consulting services specializing in product engineering and design using SIMULIA products. Jeco Plastic Products (http://jecoplastics.com/) designs and manufactures extremely durable pallets and containers for the worldwide printing and automotive industries.
Outcome
Provided Marketplace portal modeling and simulation remote desktop services including GRIP pilot portal registration; Abaqus software and evaluation licenses, up to 10K computing cycles at OSC and portal support. Contract support for Caelynx according to SOW; monitored by NCMS. Managed financial accounting and cost share documentation associated with pilot vendors. Functional marketplace with Abaqus.
