Senior Development, Security, Operations (DevSecOps) Engineer


Nimbis Services, Inc. has a new opportunity for a Senior Development, Security, Operations (DevSecOps) Engineer to join our team in our Bowie, Maryland or Columbus, Ohio office. The Senior DevSecOps Engineer will help build web application portals on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for product designers and manufacturing engineers. The Senior DevSecOps Engineer actively participates and leads multifunctional agile development teams to advance assigned projects from concept, design, development, through launch to market.  Responsible for a broad range of duties including new software development, customer experience and engagement, project management, and proposal writing. We encourage technical growth and as a more senior team member you will have the responsibility for mentoring junior team members to help expand their knowledge and skills. As you gain more experience and Nimbis technical knowledge, you will have the opportunity to be promoted into a Lead/Supervisor role if desired.

The DevSecOps team enjoys being able to participate in “Big Block of Cheese” day. On this day each employee has an opportunity to choose a technical topic related to Nimbis of their choice to work on (certifications, fix bugs, create prototypes, planning work, writing proposals, etc.). Sometimes information learned will then be shared during a lunch-n-learn meeting.

US Citizen Status is required for this position with potential clearance in the future.

What you’ll do:

  • Participates in defining and implementing technical direction of assigned projects.  
  • Performs or reviews systems analysis, design, programming, testing, debugging, and documentation for assigned projects.  
  • Leads or participates in process improvement. Is a catalyst for change.  
  • Provides technical leadership to team. Leads through example. Mentors/ influences others. Effectively works with peers, team members, and customers.  
  • Participates and leads project teams for assigned system projects; analyzes and develops project requirements and specifications with team.  
  • Investigates replacing current systems with new systems and analyzes the adaptability of current operations. Technical equipment and software vendors and current users are consulted in these evaluations.  
  • Helps develop specification, program, and documentation standards. Maintains functional operation of assigned production systems. 
  • Coordinates support for new development.  
  • Acts as key contributor on projects. Drives a project, from a technical standpoint, independently resolves issues.  
  • Makes significant contributions to the success of projects by applying demonstrated knowledge. 
  • Engages in overall security processes, from implementing security scanning automation in CI/CD pipelines, to identifying and patching security vulnerabilities in production.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent number of years of experience.
  • 5 plus years Cloud DevOps experience
  • Experience with Linux client-side and server-side technologies for modern MVC web development (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Django, Python, and REST). 
  • Must have experience with Infrastructure cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and two of the following:
  • Containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.
  • DevOps automation tools (Ansible, Terraform/CloudFormation, Packer, etc.) 
  • Front-end JavaScript framework experience (React, Angular, Vue.js, etc.)
  • Linux/Windows system administration experience
