Hosting VorCat Software in Commercial Cloud Deployment

Objective

Developing SaaS & PaaS for Software Sellers & Buyers within Marketplace.

Approach

In addition to the typical ecommerce and cloud brokerage services required, Nimbis included the appropriate HPC hosting environment and workflow methodology for problem setup, solution, analysis, and visualization of results.

Nimbis provided VorCat with a development environment to build and test their software and provide technical assistance in preparing VorCat products for cloud hosting. When ready, Nimbis will integrate the results into an appropriate HPC cloud environment and make it available to beta test users.

Outcome

In summary, Nimbis' software infrastructure supported two methods of software hosting and distribution through the software-as-a-service (SaaS) and the platform-as-a-service (PaaS) cloud service models within a typical on-line ecommerce store extended into a marketplace of stores for technical computing. There are two roles of users within this marketplace: sellers and buyers. VorCat software sellers includes both VorCat, which will create their store and add their SaaS products to the store, and VorCat software users that have created vertical applications around VorCat software and can use the PaaS service model to encapsulate and sell their vertical apps within the VorCat store.
